The US Department of Defense released another collection of declassified records concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena, adding 41 files to a disclosure effort that began earlier in the year.
The material includes more than a dozen videos, three images and roughly 20 PDF documents. Its timeline stretches from 1953 to 2026. The Pentagon had placed an initial group of 161 files online on May 8 and subsequently issued the records through five separate releases, following an executive order from President Donald Trump calling for disclosure. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said further documents would be published on a rolling basis.
Among the newly available videos is sensor footage recorded over the Gulf of Oman in 2021. It shows what is described as a dark, cold orb following an irregular course. The accompanying account estimates the object at about four feet, or 1.2 metres, across. UAP is the government and scientific term for unexplained observations that may occur in the air, on land or underwater.
A separate recording, made by a US military sensor at an undisclosed Middle Eastern location in 2025, depicts a round object crossing above an apparently residential area. Another sequence, captured over the Pacific Ocean in 2019, shows a black sphere dropping out of view and then returning while moving slowly across the image. Documentation supplied with that clip says a handheld device filmed the sensor display, a process that could explain some visible flicker.
The release also reaches back to early Cold War-era cases. In a 1953 memorandum, the US Naval Photographic Interpretation Center assessed films taken in Montana in 1950 and Utah in 1952. The centre reported apparent changes in the objects’ size alongside increases in brightness and judged their observed traits inconsistent with natural phenomena. That conclusion records the analysts’ assessment rather than establishing what the objects were.
Other files preserve witness accounts rather than instrument readings. The collection therefore combines observations made through sensors with recollections submitted by individual witnesses. A declassified FBI document recounts a former military pilot’s reports of white lights during flights between Boston and Dublin, beginning in October 2023. The pilot described repeated episodes in which lights brightened, faded and sometimes changed direction.
The three released images are renderings, not photographs. One illustrates a large dark triangle with lights at its corners, based on an account from two former US service members about a 2011 encounter. Together, the varied records expand the public archive, but their release does not by itself resolve the origin of the reported objects.
