Anthropic introduced Claude Design, a research-preview product for producing visual materials through a combination of conversation and direct editing. The company said the tool can create designs, prototypes, slide decks and one-page documents, then revise them through comments, text changes and adjustable controls.
Claude Design is powered by Claude Opus 4.7, which Anthropic described as its most capable vision model. Access began rolling out to Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers. It is included within each plan’s usage allowance, with optional additional usage, while Enterprise administrators must enable the product because it is off by default for those organizations.
A user can begin with a written request, images or office documents in DOCX, PPTX and XLSX formats. The product can also work from a codebase, and a web-capture feature can bring elements from an existing site into a prototype. Claude produces an initial version that can be refined conversationally, annotated with comments on specific elements or edited directly. It can also generate sliders for changes such as spacing, color and layout, according to Anthropic.
For teams, the product can build a design system during onboarding by reading approved code and design files. Subsequent projects can then reuse the organization’s colors, typography and components. Anthropic said teams can update those systems over time and maintain more than one, giving different products or brands separate visual rules. The feature depends on the organization granting Claude access to the relevant materials.
Sharing remains scoped to an organization. Creators can keep a document private, allow colleagues with a link to view it or grant editing access. With edit permission, multiple people can modify the design and interact with Claude in a group conversation. Finished work can be shared through an internal link, saved as a folder or exported to Canva, PDF, PowerPoint or standalone HTML.
Anthropic is also connecting the design and implementation stages. Claude Design can package a completed project into a handoff bundle for Claude Code, which is intended to give a development agent the materials needed to begin building. The company said it planned to make integrations with other tools easier over the following weeks.
The preview extends generative AI from producing code and text into a workspace where visual choices remain editable after the first output. Its practical value will depend on how closely generated work follows a team’s design system and how reliably exports preserve the intended result. Anthropic did not provide comparative evaluations in the supplied announcement, so the release establishes the workflow and availability rather than independent evidence of design quality.
