An Israeli air strike in eastern Lebanon killed the director general of Dar al-Amal University Hospital and six other people, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency and Health Ministry reporting carried by Al Jazeera.
Ali Allam was killed in Douris, a town in the Baalbek district. Anadolu Agency, citing Lebanese media, reported that the strike hit Allam’s home and identified the six other people killed as hospital employees. The supplied reports did not include a statement from the Israeli military addressing that specific attack.
The deaths occurred during a wider day of Israeli bombardment across Lebanon. In the southern suburbs of Beirut, the National News Agency reported strikes on two buildings near the edge of the area. One missile hit an 11-storey building containing shops, apartments and a gym on a busy street, setting off a fire and bringing down the structure. Residents had been warned to leave parts of Chiyah, Haret Hreik and Ghobeiry before the strikes.
Israel’s military said its aircraft had completed another round of attacks in Beirut’s southern suburbs and described its targets in the area as Hezbollah facilities and interests. Separate strikes hit the southern city of Tyre, where the military said it targeted sites including command centres, intelligence infrastructure, storage facilities and observation positions. Lebanon’s Health Ministry also said five healthcare workers affiliated with the Islamic Health Organization were killed in strikes in the south. Three died in Qatrani in the Jezzine district, while two were killed in Deir Qanoun Ras al-Ain. The ministry denounced those deaths as war crimes.

Diplomatic efforts had yet to stop the escalation. US envoy Amos Hochstein completed a regional visit that week as Washington pursued a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
