The International Atomic Energy Agency said it had not detected an increase in off-site radiation levels after the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, a finding that offered an early technical check on a highly escalatory military move.
The Al Jazeera report said President Donald Trump announced the attacks on Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan, calling them a “spectacular military success.” It also said the strikes brought the United States directly into Israel’s war against Iran and intensified fears of wider regional escalation. Against that backdrop, the IAEA’s statement mattered because it addressed one of the most immediate public fears: whether the bombing had caused a radiological release beyond the sites themselves.
According to the report, the watchdog said it had seen no increase in off-site radiation levels at the three targeted facilities. That does not mean the sites were undamaged, nor does it mean the attack was limited in strategic terms. It does mean that, at the time of reporting, there was no indication of a broader radiation event spreading beyond the nuclear compounds.

If off-site radiation had risen, the political and humanitarian consequences would have been immediate and much broader. The absence of such a rise does not remove the danger, but it does narrow the worst immediate fears.
